Trauma-informed therapy for adults who feel silenced.

Healing starts with being heard.

While we cannot change what happened in the past, we can transform how your mind and body relate to it today.

Focus areas

Any tools that I introduce into our sessions beyond traditional talking therapy will be with your consent, discussed with you first and aligned with your therapeutic goals. You will be able to easily practise any of the tools I use without me at home.

Trauma-informed relational therapy

Humans are relational being and we cannot exist without relations. Prolonged stress and trauma can make connection feel confusion.

Trauma-informed relational therapy places the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work, which can give you space to feel safe and experience new patterns of connection.

We do this by:

  • exploring how your past has shaped your thinking
  • building understanding of emotional triggers
  • exploring what self-compassion can look like
  • building healthy boundaries with yourself

This helps create a new internal template for connection—one that honours your voice.

Somatic awareness and nervous system regulation

Prolonged stress and trauma will affect us on many levels – our thoughts, emotions, behaviours and the body.

I believe a more grounded nervous system is the foundation for deeper emotional work. Using somatic practices can help us gently reconnect with our body’s signals and rhythms.

We might look at:

  • grounding and regulation skills
  • building awareness of impulses and sensations
  • building understanding of how emotions feel in the body
  • building understanding of our fight/flight/freeze/fawn responses
  • co-regulation

Trauma-informed writing

Traumatic events can immobilise those regions of the brain which we need to put words to our experiences, it can disempower us and create disconnection from others.

For those of us with a history of trauma, writing can be a valuable catalyst for healing and empowerment and the creation of new connections.

Through writing, we can begin to:

  • cultivate linguistic control over the trauma
  • reorganise our story
  • reconnect with your own voice
  • create choice

**Disclaimer** I am at the end of my training to become a facilitator to assist clients in trauma-informed writing as a sustainable complement to the work.
