About counselling and psychotherapy details what therapy is about where the counsellor is preparing for a session.

What is it all about?

At some point in our lives we all can feel that we are stuck, frustrated with how we are, have lost our way or doubt ourselves. This often leads us to struggle to see a future where we can make the changes that we need in our relationships, within ourselves or our work. This is where counselling and psychotherapy can help.

Everyday we encounter huge amounts of information, advice, explanation or quick fixes. Counselling and psychotherapy are neither of these things. It is about self-exploration, looking into places that hurt and can be scary. Working alongside you, rather than telling you what to do. Together, we can explore different paths, ways of thinking and to find ways to reflect on what is causing the distress that has brought you to therapy in the first place. 

How can we work together?

Different paths we could explore could be about relationships, understanding your own inner world, exploring the past, present and future or learning about what sensory processing sensitivity is. We can do this by talking, by expressing ourselves in creative ways like writing or imagery and by building a safe and trusting relationship.

When we work together, it is my aim to be the guide with compassion and curiosity towards anything that you might bring and I will gently enquire and question beliefs that you might hold about yourself that you thought was truth.

It is my belief that we all have the capacity to change and create the lives we live, one small step at the time.

Is there a difference? 

Counselling and psychotherapy are terms often used interchangeable, however I see counselling as a more short-term therapy, focusing on current situations. Psychotherapy is a longer-term therapy, that allows us to delve deeper by exploring past experiences to understand underlying difficulties you might be experiencing in your daily life.

My core training is in Transactional Analysis, which is a model and philosophy of personality and how we communicate and relate to each other. It is a great way to build understanding of behaviours and how these impact us everyday. It can be used in many different areas such as anxiety, relationship issues, understanding yourself in relation to burnout or high sensitivity and can be a way to realise our full potential.

What? Online counselling.

To ease the feelings of overwhelm, to create a sense of relief, let’s talk. My offer to you is online, ongoing therapy, in the convenience of your own space. Working together in a way that’s right for you, at your pace.

How?

How? Online counselling via meet.

The first step is to book the first online counselling session to meet each other. This is a chance to ask questions and discover if we are a good match and to discuss how we can work together. 

When?

When? Weekly online counselling.

The fee for all online counselling sessions of 50 minutes is £60. We will meet via Google Meet. If, after the first session, you decide you would like to work together, we will set up a recurring date and time and meet weekly.

My location

My office is based in Polegate, East Sussex. It is surrounded by the downs and close to the sea. 

I work primarily online using Google Meet to connect with clients. However, I do have space to facilitate face-to-face session if you so require. Do get in touch to discuss options.
